A 星曜 has a different level of brightness in each 宫位. Higher brightness tends to make its constructive qualities easier to express; lower brightness can make its limitations more visible.
| Level | Meaning | Reading emphasis |
|---|---|---|
| 庙 | The strongest and most suitable state | Constructive traits are fully expressed and difficult traits are moderated. |
| 旺 | Strong, slightly below 庙 | Most constructive qualities remain clear. |
| 得地 | A supportive position | Expression is stable and generally balanced. |
| 利 | A workable position | Qualities are present but less pronounced than in 庙 or 旺. |
| 平 | An ordinary position | Positive and challenging traits are mixed. |
| 不得地 | A less supportive position | Constructive traits weaken and limitations become more noticeable. |
| 陷 | The least supportive state | The 星曜 requires more context and careful interpretation. |
