Four main approaches to selecting 用神

用神 is not simply whichever 五行 appears least. A sound judgment considers 日主 strength, 格局, climate, and the main structural imbalance together.

扶抑: restrain, drain, or expend an overly strong 日主; generate or support a weak one.
调候: address seasonal cold, heat, dryness, or dampness.
通关: introduce a mediating 五行 when two forces are in direct conflict.
病药: identify the structure's main problem (病) and the factor that resolves it (药).

调候用神, 格局用神, and 扶抑 or 通关 methods may reach different conclusions. They should be presented as distinct analytical dimensions rather than forced into one answer.
